That’s right! I reached 1000 milestone.

Figure 1: Celebrating the milestone

📢Before I start celebrating with you, I would like to announce that Dr. Green Economy will go on a break next week. Where am I going? 🤔 Continue reading to know more…

I have been publishing articles every Friday at 10 am CEST/CET since I first started in March 2022. Wow! hang on, I will give myself a pat on the back…..

….All right I am back….. but I did miss one Friday last August— that was when I was terribly sick.

I still can’t believe Dr. Green Economy reaches more than 1000 accounts every Friday. I’m grateful to all of you for giving five minutes of your time every week to read what I have to say through this newsletter.

Figure 2: Where do Dr. Green Economy’s readers come from?

With this one, I have published 77 posts, that's including a few Tuesday posts during the first 2 months. Dr. Green Economy is currently read across 36 US states and 58 countries. So, the majority of my readers come from the US. Thank you!

Thank you also to following amazing people (in no particular order) who have continuously exposed me to their audiences:

  • Elizabeth Doerr writes

    Cramming for the Apocalypse

  • Todd Bush writes Decarbonfuse

  • Jaan Juurikas writes EV Universe

  • J.K. Lund writes

History behind the birth of Dr. Green Economy

Many of you know how I started this newsletter already, but many new members have joined us since then. So, I will briefly share the story again.

I started Dr. Green Economy during my maternity leave more than a year ago. I was looking for something to do when my baby sleeps, mostly because I thought I was going to be away from work for a long time.

Considering my love for writing, my husband introduced me to the newsletters world. So, he should get a majority of the credit for this milestone. Anyway, I have raised and loved this newsletter as much as my human child. So, in a way, I consider this my twin digital child 🥹.

I actually enjoy it when I think about my initial struggling days. The first six months were the hardest. Establishing something from ground zero with no audience base anywhere was not easy. There were lots of ups and down, mostly down but I didn’t want to give up. This newsletter has been a part of my life from day 1. Thanks to my husband who has been the biggest pillar.

My weekly routine

Here is my process of preparing one article that hit your mailbox every Friday.

  • Sunday evening: I finalize the topic

  • Monday: Research, work on graphs and write a first draft

  • Tuesday: Revise, rewrite, cut off, add on—overall give it a good presentable shape

  • Wednesday and Thursday: At least one hour every day to read through and make sure things are still making sense

  • Friday at 9 am: Final read through and schedule it for 10 am CEST/CET to go out.

Future of Dr. Green Economy

So, Dr. Green Economy will continue forever and as you can imagine, this past year has been a learning experience for me. I have learnt a lot about writing online, about newsletter business and mostly (I couldn't be more grateful!) understanding my audience.

I have spoken to 12 founders and business leaders under the sub-section Green Initiatives, who are devoted to sustainability. Getting inspiration from them and lots of feedback I received along the way, I have decided to change the course of direction slightly.

When I started, I wrote for myself. Now I will write for my readers.

Until now, this newsletter has mostly been an educational medium for people who wants to know more about the impact of climate change. In the next phase, I will focus more on how climate change will impact businesses.

So, whether you are an economist learning the impact of climate change on economy or the CEO of a company looking to make your business more sustainable and protecting your workers or a student or a 9-5 job holder looking to learn more about the impact of climate change, this newsletter will serve the purpose. There will be a lot of data (of course) because it's my favourite.

When I reach 1500 subscribers, I am thinking of opening a paid subscription option to support Dr. Green Economy if you like so that I can expand the newsletter further and can afford another writer. Because.... as you can imagine, I have a huge plan for this newsletter. However, all the articles will be open (and free) to everyone.

Taking a break….

Now, going back to where this post started. I am taking a break next week because I am moving home and would like to enjoy decorating my new home with my family ☺️.

Also, as I have received amazing feedback on the outline of the articles, I will come back with a slightly different format.

If you miss Dr. Green Economy next week, feel free to visit my top-read articles.

  • When will fossil fuels run out?

  • Sustainability jobs: 42 million renewable energy jobs by 2050

  • Disadvantages of renewable energy

  • EU introduces universal charger policy in 2024 to tackle e-waste crisis

Again, thank you all for hanging in there for me and for all your comments, suggestions and pure love. I am forever grateful that you have allowed me to drop in your inbox every Friday with a warm welcome.

Thank you all for being there for me.

We are back in business on the 11th of August, introducing our Green Entrepreneur, Mayri Tiido. Till then, enjoy your summer!
